The Ambition
Peroko was envisioned as a rare culinary encounter, where the stillness of Serbia’s Kopaonik mountains meets the disciplined grace of Japanese cuisine. Viceroy sought to create an identity that could hold both worlds in harmony. Insignia transformed this duality into a brand experience that felt elemental, poetic, and pure: a restaurant that would express serenity through simplicity.

The Approach
The project set out to craft more than a restaurant identity; it aimed to compose a sensory philosophy. Insignia treated Peroko as a study in duality, nature and discipline, stillness and movement, mountain and sea, and built a brand language that holds these contrasts in seamless balance.
- We explored the worlds of contemporary Japanese and Central European dining to understand how cultural integrity can coexist with innovation.
- Analysed social and aesthetic codes of both contexts, the tactile craftsmanship of Serbia and the compositional restraint of Japan, to uncover their shared appreciation for harmony and ritual.
- Anchored the brand in its symbolic name Peroko, a fusion of pero (feather) and uroko (fish scale), representing lightness, texture, and interconnected form.
- Developed a design system that conveys stillness through rhythm: clean lines offset by natural tactility, precision tempered by warmth.
- Used Experience Blueprinting to choreograph the guest journey, from first impression to final note, ensuring that every gesture carried intent and balance.
- Curated material choices such as wood, stone, metal, and light, to mirror the equilibrium between nature and refinement.
- Defined a verbal tone that communicates through suggestion rather than emphasis, evoking the calm intimacy of a private ceremony.
- Created visual guidelines that weave geometry and texture into a unified aesthetic: minimal yet deeply atmospheric.
- Positioned Peroko as a dining experience of quiet mastery, where contrast becomes harmony and simplicity reveals depth.

The Outcome
Peroko transcended geography, uniting two philosophies of beauty into one dining experience. The identity distilled serenity into form and flavour, a reflection of how contrast can create unity. Through Insignia’s strategic and creative approach, Viceroy gained a culinary brand where design, culture, and gastronomy breathe as one.
