The Ambition
To develop a world-class cruise brand that embodies Saudi Arabia’s new era of travel: confident, creative, and connected to its cultural soul. The goal was to establish AROYA Cruises as the Kingdom’s inaugural cruise line and a contemporary icon of Arabian leisure, reflecting the warmth of Saudi hospitality while expressing the sophistication of modern global tourism.


The Approach
Engaged by Cruise Saudi as strategic and creative partner, Insignia’s task was to design the blueprint for the Kingdom’s first cruise brand, one that could rival international standards while remaining unmistakably Saudi in its soul. The approach unified cultural research, experience design, and service philosophy into a singular brand world.
- Explored global travel trends and regional sensibilities to identify how Saudi artistry and modern leisure could coexist within a cruise environment.
- Defined AROYA’s central narrative, a celebration of discovery, comfort, and connection, expressed consistently through design, service, and storytelling.
- Structured a brand ecosystem encompassing naming, architecture, and identity systems to align ship design, destinations, and guest experiences under one vision.
- Developed a spatial and experiential framework mapping how passengers engage with each area of the vessel, from embarkation rituals to entertainment and retreat spaces.
- Outlined sensory and design guidelines for F&B, retail, and wellness venues, ensuring each carried the distinct cadence of Arabian warmth and refinement.
- Created a Service Culture model that transformed brand values into crew behaviours, operational routines, and signature acts of hospitality.
- Produced comprehensive brand and launch communications, defining tone, imagery, and narrative flow to introduce AROYA as a confident new voice in global cruising.
- Delivered an integrated playbook combining brand DNA, guest experience, and operational insight into a unified framework for future growth and replication.
The Outcome
AROYA Cruises marked a milestone in Saudi Arabia’s travel and hospitality journey: a national initiative founded on creativity, care, and cultural expression.
